MENTALLY: DEEPER STATES OF MEDITATION & LESS INNER CRITIC

Within PSYCHEDELIC BREATH® you are experiencing a non-ordinary state aka deeper states of meditation. A part of it is regulated by a change in your brainwaves. During intense breathwork we shift from a so called beta wave that we usually experience during day time into slower waves such as alpha, theta and sometimes gamma waves. Here is an overview what those waves mean and what you might be feeling:

  • BETA WAVES: normal day activity: attentive, thinking, making decisions, problem solving – high frequency means feeling agitated, stressed, tense, hyper alert, afraid or obsessive
  • ALPHA WAVES: relaxed, reflective and aware and in the present moment (meditative / massage state)
  • THETA WAVES: deeply relaxed state where we are open, intuitive, and receptive (hypnotic state). Deep insights or aha movements beyond our normal conscious awareness. This can occur in breathwork, deep meditation or in sleep
  • DELTA WAVES: Our slowest brain waves – mostly in deep dreamless sleep where we lose body awareness
  • GAMMA WAVES: Heightened perception and consciousness

TRANSIT HYPOFRONTALITY // or how to silent the inner critic. The Prefrontal Cortex is very active during our wakening beta state. It allows us to analyze and question our own behavior, to plan and to structure. But high activity can also lead to over-thinking and blaming yourself. Effects of temporarily slowing down the pre-frontal cortex:
